GROUNDED: the latest exhibit at Lopez Museum

GROUNDED at LOPEZ MUSEUMI’ve visited yesterday The Lopez Museum and Library in Ortigas, Pasig City and what’s new with the exhibition there? Great artwork from sculptures and artist not only from our country but there are several entries from the foreign participants.

Grounded Exhibit 2

Are you Grounded?!

Have you been experience being grounded? In literal or metaphorical meaning? There are several meaning of it depends on your interpretation.

When I visited this museum; I’ve been grounded not to use the flash of my camera to take shots of the photos there 😉 (my experience).

Grounded is a literal and metaphorical take of notions of rootedness, engagement and mobility in scapes and interventions within and without these referenced sites.

I’ve witness the great works from the sculptures and artists who had an exhibit in this museum. Also with some foreign artist who join in this exhibit.

I’m amazed on how they created such arts like this specially the artworks of the Public artist Abdulmari “Toym” de Leon Imao. I have a chance to interviewed him about his creation. He said that he used the “hands” as his design / trademark  because he wants to go back in the basic crafting that only includes that paper, pencil and hand.

I love the designs of the sandals here

Interdisciplinary artist Josephine Turalba presents dis-charged footwear in Scandals, an experiential installation where guests are encouraged to wear bullet shell sandals to traipse through a once private memory trove of negative images taken during the American colonial period. Turalba completed her MFA in New Media at the Transart Institute at Universität Krems in Austria in 2009 and is currently the Dean of the College of Fine Arts of the Philippine Women’s University. Her videos and sculptural installation works have been shown in Greece, Taiwan, France, and Germany.
